Impossible Atlas is a live performance tool. A performer starts a short, temporary session and hands you a link so you can choose a point on a map. This page explains exactly what happens with that choice.

What we do not collect

The app never asks for your device's location, and it does not use GPS, background location, your camera, microphone, contacts or photos. You do not create an account, and we do not collect your name or e-mail address. There is no advertising and no analytics on the spectator pages.

What is transmitted

The one thing the app does receive is the map point you choose by hand. When you press “Lock Location” and confirm, the coordinates of your pin (and, if you tapped a labelled place, that place's identifier) are sent to the performance server. Until that moment, moving or dragging the pin sends nothing. The selected point is shared with the magician conducting your session — that is the performance.

How long it is kept

Sessions are temporary and expire automatically (by default after 60 minutes). When a session expires or the performer ends it, the selected point and everything derived from it are deleted. The app keeps no long-term history of chosen locations.

Google Maps

The map itself is Google Maps, and the server uses Google's geocoding and places services to display and interpret map information (for example, turning coordinates into a city name). Your use of the map is also subject to Google's own terms and privacy policy, linked from the map attribution. Impossible Atlas is an independent product and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google.
